baseball umpire development clinics

Clinics are classroom instruction provided by GHSA Umpire Development Staff in an online format . The registration fee for clinics is $50. A clinic is the basic minimum instruction to be eligible to call regular season varsity level games.

We will also offer ‘Camps’, which offer the same classroom session and an additional 4 hours of cage / field instruction. For Camp information click HERE.

We strongly encourage any umpire looking to improve their skills to sign-up for a Camp. For only $25 more, you receive cage and field instruction from some of the best insturctors in the country.

No, to be eligible to work GHSA Post-Season and umpire must attend a Camp (not a clinic) every year.

Paying online with a credit or debit card is the easiest method, but you can also mail in a check. You will not receive the login information for the online session and your registration will not be complete until the payment is received.

The online “Classroom Session” will include presentations from our Umpire Development Staff on various topics. It will normally cover any upcoming rule or policy changes. We will take certain rule or game situations and go into detail about how to handle them.

Saturday will include actual cage and field instruction from our “Guest Instructors” on a wide area of topics related to both the two and three umpire system.

Our online sessions will be as close to an actual “classroom” session as possible except you don’t have to travel. They will include a “live” presentation form our instructors and you will have the opportunity to interact with them, ask question and add comments.

A ‘Camp’ includes an online classroom session on Thursday night as well as field and cage instruction on Saturday by some of the best instructors in the country. For more information on our instructors see the information about each one of them on our “Guest Instructors” page by clicking HERE. A Camp will qualify an umpire to work varsity games during the regular season as well as be eligible to work post season games.

A ‘Clinic’ is a classroom session only, on a weekday evening. It will provide basic minimal instruction and will only qualify an umpire to work varsity games during the regular season.

The login information for the Zoom “Classroom Session” is emailed out on the Monday before the Thursday session. Sometimes this email goes to your spam folder so check there first. The email is only sent out to umpires that have completed registration, including payment. If you still cannot find it, email [email protected] early, don’t wait until right before the session is about to start because all of our staff will be busy working on the session.

Refunds or transfers will only be issued before registration for the session has closed. Do not register unless you are certain you will be able to attend the session. Spots in each session are limited and if you change your mind, you have prevented another umpire for registering for that session.
