GHSA Umpire Development
Camp & Clinics

Umpire Development Camps

A GHSA Umpire Development Camp consists of an online “classroom” session that includes about 3 hours of instruction from the GHSA Umpire Development Staff as well as 4 hours of Cage and Field instruction from our staff of Guest Instructors that include some of the best instructors from Major League Baseball, Minor League Baseball, The Umpire Training Academy, Wendelstedt and College Umpires from the ACC & SEC. You can see more detailed information on our instructors HERE.

Umpires that wish to be eligible to call the GHSA Post-Season must attend a Camp each year, however these camps are not just for playoff umpires. Any umpire who wants the highest level of instruction available can attend a camp.

Umpire Development Clinics

A GHSA Umpire Development Clinic consists of an online “classroom” session that includes about 3 hours of instruction from the GHSA Umpire Development Staff. Clinics are the basic minimum instruction needed to officiate GHSA baseball. The topics covered in the classroom session will change each season and will be available in the “online courses” section of the website the following season.

For an umpire to be eligible to call varsity games during the regular season they must attend a clinic at least every other season. The GHSA Umpire Development Staff recommends that umpires attend a camp, which meets the requirements of clinic for calling regular season varsity games, but also includes 4 hours of cage & field instruction.
